New Engines!

When SearXNG adds a new engine upstream, you have to manually add it to settings.yml. And it turns out I haven't done that in quite some time. So today, KE0ONU SearXNG now supports almost 50 new engines! When adding them from upstream, I omitted those that caused issues when I tried to restart the Docker container as well as non-English engines and engines that may cause legal trouble (i.e. torrent websites).

The engines are listed here:

  • Adobe Stock: Repository with millions of royalty-free assets
  • Alpine Linux Packages: Package repository for Alpine Linux
  • Ask.com: Formerly AskJeeves
  • BitChute: YouTube alternative
  • Cppreference: Reference guide for C++
  • Yep: Search engine that shares revenue with content creators. The main engine was already enabled, but categories were not.
  • EncycloSearch: Metasearch engine for online encyclopedias
  • FindThatMeme: Search engine for memes
  • Fyyd: Podcast search engine
  • Gitea: Software development service
  • Goodreads: Book database and reviews
  • Hacker News: News website focused on computer science and entrepreneurship
  • Hex: Package manager for the Erlang ecosystem
  • Crates: Rust package repository
  • Hugging Face: Machine learning software development tools
  • Ipernity: Non-commercial photo-sharing site
  • Mastodon: Federated social media
  • MDN Web Docs: Documentation repository for web developers
  • MetaCPAN: Search engine for the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network, a repository of Perl modules
  • Microsoft Learn: Library of technical documentation for users and developers
  • Mozhi: Alternative frontend for several translation engines
  • Mullvad Leta: Private frontend for Google and Brave
  • Ollama: Repository of LLM models
  • Openclipart: Library of free clip art
  • Open Library: Library from the Internet Archive
  • Podcast Index: Index of podcasts
  • Presearch: Blockchain-based metasearch engine
  • Radio Browser: Search engine for radio stations
  • Reuters: News site
  • Right Dao: Private search engine
  • Rotten Tomatoes: Movie review aggregator
  • Selfhst Icons: Free collection of icons and logos
  • Discussions on Python.org: Official Python discussion boards
  • Caddy.community: Official Caddy discussion boards
  • Pi-hole.community: Official Pi-hole discussion boards
  • Startpage: Private frontend for Google and Bing. The main engine was already enabled, but the image and news categories were not.
  • Steam: PC game marketplace
  • Yandex: Search engine
  • Wikimedia Commons: Free media repository
  • Mojeek: Private search engine. The main engine was already enabled, but the image and news categories were not.
  • Stract: Independent open-source search engine.
  • UXWing: Free icon repository
  • Void Linux Packages: Package repository for Void Linux

Please note that to prevent latency, many of these are not enabled by default. You can select which engines you would like to use in the "Preferences" menu.
